Ludonga,

Any property the couple ac...ulated during the marriage will be divided. The husband needs to contact an attorney to get advice for his situation.

Samantha,

Your assets and debts ac...ulated during the marriage will be divided according to the laws of the state where you live. In a community property state, they will be split equally. If you live in an equitable distribution state, they will be split in a manner that is equitable (fair) but not necessarily equally. Please consult a lawyer to get advice for your specific situation.

my husband owes a lot with credit card bills before we got married which i didn't know beforehand and he didn't change through the years, he's hiding his buying and shopping to me. I believe he's filing for divorce. I don't have any supplementary card with all his bills. Is this mean he is only responsible? what about separate accounts like he's hiding a savings account in his name only. Do i have the right on that???

Dee Dee,

You are both reponsible for the debt, but if one of you defaults on the payments, the creditor will look to the other person to make the payments.

All of our debt was ac...ulated during our marriage, but was all in my name only since his credit was bad. How will this turn out since we are divorcing. Can he be assigned responsibility for some of the debt? Thnaks.

I have a question. Husband and I have been married for 15 yrs. But been together for 21 years. Where he works he has profit share which is a form of retirement. We are currently fixing to get a divorce. I was told that I am entitled to part of this. But I was wondering, would I have to wait till he retires to get my share or can I get it when divorce is final.
