I have already paid him, but now he needs more money in a trust because he can't find a lawyer to represent my husband. How can I go about this without spending so much money. I have 4 children and this has been dragging on for a year now because I can't afford it.

-- Contributed by: JCRedmondIs it true that I can divorce my inmate husband for only $1 dollar? I married my husband in Pelican Bay State prison 5 years ago.. He had been my friend for 18 years, and I was only 25 when I married him. I now realize that it was a mistake... It hurts but it's time to move on with my own life. I just found out that he is serving a life sentence. He claims that he will get out soon... I doubt that VERY much. I believe it's his way of making me stay. False hope & wishful thinking HELP..........any advice?

Your husband can hire a lawyer to contest the divorce and request visitation rights, whether he is in jail awaiting trial or not.

You still need to file for divorce if you want to legally end your marriage. Please see a lawyer who can help you get the paperwork filed and arrange to have your husband served.

You would start the divorce proceedings in the state where you live. Once the papers have been filed, you can arrange to have them served on your husband where he is being incarcerated.
