Thank you Lori.... I have been stressing about how to do this divorce. I cannot afford a lawyer, its just not possible at all. Its a uncontested divorce but I was afraid to do it myself, I didn't want to mess it up. I went through that JointDivorce site and it was wonderful -- had to say thank you for giving this site, I don't think I would've found it otherwise... Thanks!!! Pamela
-- Contributed by: PamelaI gree with Lori. An uncontested divorce makes things easy. We've been trying to decide how we'll go about it, but it's amicable.
We don't want to damage the kids. Maybe we'll look at that Web site.
-- Contributed by: JasonAn uncontested divorce is best. You don't have to drag the kids through it and there's less anxiety with it.
My wife and I went through jointdivorce.com. It was a flat fee and they did all the paperwork. It was great.

I would suggest that you take a copy of the decree to a lawyer to get advice for your situation. The fact that your children are no longer minors may mean that you can change the beneficiary, but you need professional advice.

-- Contributed by: JCRedmondMy wife and I were granted an uncontested divorce in December of 2003. We had three minor children at the time, but all three have since married. One clause in the decree is now causing a problem. The clause stated that after remarriage, my current life insurance was to remain the same with all minor children named as beneficieries. I have since remarried and named my current spouse as sole beneficiary. The policy is an AD&D policy funded fully by the company I work for. Do I have grounds to amend this clause to also include my current spouse as an additional beneficiary?

Once the divorce papers have been filed, they will need to be served on your spouse. Once this has been done, the court clerk's office will assign a case number. If your spouse doesn't respond, then a hearing date will be set and the divorce will be granted. If you have questions, do contact the court clerk's office. It's better to ask and have accurate information than to do nothing.
